Biography
Lee is from Milton, West Virginia. She is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a Bachelor's degree in English and Journalism. While there she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. She spent a semester abroad in Florence, Italy at The British Institute.
She met Billy Joel when she was 22 year-old, working as a restaurant correspondent for George Hirsch: Living it Up! on PBS in 2003. After dating for a year, she and Joel married at his home in Oyster Bay, Long Island, on October 2, 2004. Alexa Ray Joel, Billy's daughter from his previous marriage to Christie Brinkley, served as maid of honor. Alexa is four years younger than Katie.
After nearly five years of marriage, Billy and Katie Lee decided to separate in June 2009. The separation came after months of rumors that Katie Lee was having an affair with Israeli fashion designer, Yigal Azrouel.
